1kg of rice
1kg of beef
40g pilau spices
250g cooking oil
2 ltr water or vegetable stock
3tps tomato paste
salt to taste
4 cloves of crushed garlic
1 large onion
Preparation:
Wash the beef until the final rinse runs clear.
Cut the beef into large cubes and boil it for 15 minutes.
Select the rice then wash it clean. Strain out the water completely.
In a shallow frying pan put the pilau spices cooking under low heat for 3 minute then crush the spices using a food processor or blender till they are fine.

Preparation Method:
Cook the onion and crushed garlic in cooking oil till golden brown.
Add the pilau spice and allow to cook for a minute .
Add the pre-boiled beef then cook while stirring.
Let it absorb the spices for a while.
Put the tomato paste stir,
Then add the rice.
Stir gently so that the rice is well mixed with the beef and the spices.
Add in the water or vegetable stock.
Adjust the seasoning to your desired taste.
Leave the food to simmer for 10 minutes.
Reduce the heat when the food starts to cook.
When the water or stock is almost dried up cover the cooking pot with a wet kitchen paper and a lid.
Cook till the food is ready.
Serve it hot with kachumbari.
