BEST RECIPE FOR HOME-MADE DONUTS/DOUGHNUTS

1. INGREDIENTS
4 Cups of self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter or margarine
Oil for deep frying
Desired coating or icing

2. PREPARING THE DOUGH
In a mixing bowl combine the flour and salt then set aside. In a larger mixing bowl combine the sugar and eggs beat until they are well mixed. Add the melted butter and half of the milk and continue whisking.
Add half of the flour mixture to the wet mixture and combine using an electric mixer or bare hands. Add the remaining flour and continue mixing. Finally add the remaining milk and mix until the consistency of the flour is neither too hard nor too soft.
Cover and set aside for 2 to 4 hours.

NB: The coating, glaze or icing should be prepared before you start frying the donuts since they should be applied while the donuts are still warm.

3. PREPARING THE COATING, GLAZE OR ICING
Powdered Sugar Icing - In a small bowl combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 tbsp milk and 1/4 tsp vanilla essence. Stir in additional milk until the icing reaches a drizzling consistency.
